DESCRIPTION

Diarrhoea is a sign of a disturbance in the natural rhythm of the digestive system. When you suffer from diarrhoea, intestinal transit speeds up, preventing your body from absorbing enough liquid from food. The result is watery stools. Imodium® capsules contain the active ingredient loperamide (loperamide hydrochloride), which provides safe, rapid and effective symptomatic treatment of acute and chronic diarrhoea. Imodium® capsules normalise intestinal activity, helping to solidify stools and eliminate symptoms. This prevents dehydration due to loss of fluids and electrolytes. Imodium® normalises transit and has an anti-secretory effect. Imodium® capsules is also recommended in cases of traveller's diarrhoea. On medical advice, Imodium® capsules may also be suitable for treating diarrhoea associated with irritable bowel syndrome. Imodium® is available without prescription. USE ADVICE

Imodium® is a medicine. Always read the patient information leaflet. Do not take Imodium® for more than 2 days without medical advice. Never take more than 8 capsules in 24 hours. The initial dose is 2 capsules for adults and 1 capsule for children. Then take 1 capsule after each liquid stool if necessary. For children, the maximum dose is 3 capsules per 20 kilos.

COMPOSITION

Active substance (per capsule): 2 mg loperamide hydrochloride

Excipients : Lactose monohydrate, maize starch, talc, magnesium stearate.

The capsule shell contains: black and yellow iron oxide (E172), indigotine (E132), erythrosine (E127), titanium oxide and gelatin.
